Key Performance Indicators

Too Much HR KPIs is Chaos of Numbers

I remember Dr. Kaplan comments at a conference somewhere in 2008, Dubai, UAE. He mentioned “and I totally agree” that Five to Six key performance indicators are enough to measure Human Resources department strategic objectives progress. He benchmarked his answers with best practice organizations as indicated in his book and original concepts of strategic maps and measurements. You may tempt to come up with hundreds of measurements. But the most important ones are the KEY to your organization success. Flooding human resources department’s staff with irrelevant measurements is a chaos of numbers as a Financial Director said to me. This will inevitably shift employees’ attention away from their core function attending other departments’ endless request of measuring and reporting results.
